Today I made the trip out to Bucheon for a project meeting. It’s funny — inquiries have really been picking up lately. Before this, I wouldn’t get a single one in a month. There’s real momentum these days.
During the meeting, I walked them through the parts where I could genuinely help.
Honestly, right up until I left, it felt like a hassle — like I was about to give free consulting — so I just framed it in my head as pro bono work.
I’ll be rich soon enough anyway, and they say: when your cup runs over, share it.
(+) And like my wife said, I was also going to widen my field of view on the market.
But what do you know — there was actually quite a lot we could have fun building together.
They’d already accumulated a decent amount of data, the owner had an open mind, and I could see plenty of interesting hypotheses worth testing.
Money matters, sure, but what really hit me was being able to help someone with my own craft.
He genuinely needed me, and he already trusted me.
Okay — that’s enough for me.
So what? It looks like a loss in the moment, but in the end, you get back as much as you give.
