The book Million Dollar Weekend: The Surprisingly Simple Way to Launch a 7-Figure Business in 48 Hours
Authors: Noah Kagan and Tahl Raz
WHY do I want to run a business??
I’ve always been a business broken record.
- Man, I want to inherit a factory that just prints money too.
- He runs a factory making everyday household goods — and he’s that rich?
- How did everyone else get their start?
- Guess I’ll watch entrepreneur YouTube and live vicariously.
- I don’t care if it’s hard on my body, if it wrings me out — I want my own business.
- I have the time, the effort, the skills, the discipline. So why am I only imagining it?
- More than making a big pile of money, I want to build monthly recurring revenue (MRR).
- I want to work for the rest of my life.
- And I’m confident I can do it better than anyone.
I’ve bounced through early-stage startups, a global company, freelancing, a startup CTO seat, a conglomerate, a mid-sized firm — chasing [work that makes my heart pound] my whole life. (Turns out it doesn’t exist unless it’s mine..)
Marketing, consulting, product planning, full-stack development (servers, infrastructure, frontend, backend, AI, all of it) — I’ve spent my life building the things I wanted to build.
I still don’t have much experience in sales,
but I know exactly what it comes down to: the customer, and making and selling what they actually need.
It’s not: build it, then sell it.
In other words: make several things that will sell.
(1) Things that will sell?
-
Better if it interests me — but the mindset is that it doesn’t have to.
-
For whom?
ㄴ Check the market size: mass-market, or niche.
ㄴ That line — [a good product needs no marketing].
ㄴ “Nice to have” doesn’t cut it.
ㄴ It has to be something people will pay money for.
(2) Make it
-
If it’s software, anything is possible.
-
If it’s hardware, you build it.
-
If it needs outsourcing, you find someone.
(3) Several: try n times
-
My last startup cost a fortune, and failing hurt badly.
-
Unlike back then, everything moves fast now.
-
Get feedback fast, plan fast, build fast, test fast.
-
Which is why I’m doing [Monthly Boss Yoon].
-
One item every week to every month.
