When My Team Lead Gave Me FOMO (Samsung & SK Hynix)

FOMO Day

  • Today my team lead treated us to lunch. His stocks had hit big.
  • It wasn’t that the FOMO landed on me right there, but as he kept going on about stocks and semiconductors this and that — my brain knew it was just noise, but my ears and my heart clearly didn’t agree, and I felt strangely unsettled.
  • After lunch, I sat in the bathroom scrolling X for an hour, and it looked like plenty of Tesla bulls had bailed because of exactly this kind of FOMO.
  • “Are you supposed to pretend it doesn’t get to you when you hear talk like this?”
  • “Things that felt so clear to me up through last month — is it normal that they start to look a little blurrier the moment I hear stories like these?”
  • “Nothing in my actual life has taken a real hit from any of this — so why am I being shaken?
  • I even looked up a fortune-teller — 60,000 won a session… lol
  • Just yesterday I was taking comfort in what Kian and Sean had said, hit with that this is it feeling.
  • It’s at moments like this, more than ever, that I have to define the parts that are tangling me up, sort through the thoughts as they surface, and line up the things I can actually do.
  • This is exactly why metacognition and stepping outside yourself matter…! Just try. Start with what’s within reach.
  • My heart is plainly on a different page from my brain.

So what? I shouldn’t listen to stock talk at all. That’s how I survive. That’s how I get rich.
