"Sustainable" is a truly terrifying word.

This is a newsletter that arrives every week from a place called the ‘Korean Picture Book Publishers Association.’ It’s a newsletter I don’t usually read, but for some reason I found myself opening it this time.

Hold on — these folks were already working hard long before I ever started my own business, and even now, more than a year after I shut mine down and moved on to another company, they’re still going strong.

Incredible..

To keep it up for all this time, to stay sustainable..

In the end,

in the end, the key is ‘time.’

It’s not about one big lucky break — it’s about whether you can keep going.

And this thing called ‘time’ — it seems like such an easy, obvious value,

yet it feels absolutely terrifying..

A minute, a second — they seem like nothing,

but seven years, ten years — just hearing those words makes me gasp.

So what? I need to stack up my own hours ‘well.’

If I keep stacking up the ‘hours’ I spend doing the things I love,

they’ll come to make up who I am — they’ll become ‘me’ itself.

I’ll be able to discover the things I love even more,

I’ll be able to wait for the 20% of free time out of my 100% with a flutter of excitement,

and when I look back, I think I’ll be happy, with no regrets.

I might even feel proud.

Building my pyramid one layer at a time, completing myself..!
